NICO Technologies Limited was incorporated in January 2002 under the Companies Act of Malawi with NICO Holdings Plc as a sole shareholder. the company was established as an IT products and services provider. NICO Technologies Limited evolved from a self-accounting IT department of The National Insurance Company Limited, where it had been in existence since 1982.
